Sandy Springs residents, including Cheri Morris, in foreground above, and Leigh Thompson, set off June 25 on three days of intense discussions about the future of the city’s downtown, a project that’s been often discussed but hasn’t materialized. By June 27, they were expressing ideas on maps of the proposed downtown area along the Roswell Road corridor, using color-coded blocks to represent commercial areas, residential areas and green space. The city of Sandy Springs’ consultant, Goody Clancy, will put together a new plan for city officials to consider this fall.
