Twenty Atlanta high school seniors will be selected again this year to receive $1,000 each to be used towards pursuits in higher education as part of the 6th Annual H. Lamar Willis Public Service Scholarship program.
To be eligible applicants must be graduating seniors, residing in the City of Atlanta, be accepted or have plans to attend an accredited community college or university as a
full-time student with at least 12 credit hours, and must have a demonstrated record of community and/or civic participation through both school and non-school related activities. Applicants may attend a public or private school located within the city of Atlanta.
Atlanta at-large City Councilmember H. Lamar Willis founded the scholarship program during his first term on council in an effort to provide aspiring college bound seniors with similar scholarship opportunities as were provided to him upon his graduation from Northside High School, now known as North Atlanta High School.
Last year’s scholarship recipients included students from nine of the 10 Atlanta public high schools and attend schools across the U.S.

Applications, which are now available, must be submitted on or before Friday, April 20. Scholarship recipients swill be honored at a banquet in late May or early June.
The scholarship program is funded by the annual H. Lamar Willis Golf Tournament.
