As the Junior League of Atlanta’s Tour of Kitchens celebrates its 10th anniversary, several Buckhead and Sandy Springs homes have made it into the select group of stops during the two-day event.
The tour, which also coincides with the 90th anniversary of the Junior League of Atlanta, will be held on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25 at a total of 14 homes throughout Dunwoody and Atlanta along with Sandy Springs and Buckhead. The tour features homes with state-of-the-art kitchens created by top Atlanta design firms as well as visits from prominent local chefs.
Tour of Kitchens publicity chairman Debbie Hull said the kitchens on the tour are selected by a committee based on applications from Atlanta’s most celebrated kitchen designers. She said they do look for certain qualities when selecting kitchens.
“We look for state of the art kitchens with the latest innovations in a wide variety of styles from modern to traditional,” Hull said.
The self-guided tour is designed to attract a variety of patrons.
“They may be renovating their kitchens, simply interested in the latest kitchen design or interested in the celebrity chefs we have cooking up their latest creations,” Hull said. “It’s really a fun event attended by both couples and folks who want to spend the day with friends while doing something really interesting.”
The tour festivities also include a Toast of the Tour preview party at 7 p.m. on March 14 at the offices of Residential Construction Specialties, Inc. on Miami Circle. The party tickets at $40 include food and cocktails as well as music and a silent auction.
“This is a special year for the Tour of Kitchens and our committee is working hard to create a wonderful two-day tour featuring amazing kitchens and a fabulous party providing delicious food and drink and a great silent auction,” said tour chairman Susan Lortz.
Tour tickets purchased in advance are $25 and include entrance to both days of the event. They can be purchased online at www.jlatlanta.org or at a number of retail establishments listed on the site. Tickets purchased on the first day of the tour will be $35.
Proceeds from the tour and the preview party will go towards the Junior League’s continuing efforts to finance aid projects and educate its members about community service.
