Georgia Department of Transportation crews and contractors are approximately 80 percent complete with the Peachtree Road Reconstruction Project in Buckhead, according to Beth Hardy-Okun, special projects coordinator for GDOT.

She announced that motorists can anticipate a range of activities in the coming weeks, such as lane closures on Piedmont Road.

On the weekends of August 10th and 17th, crews will work on Piedmont Road south of Peachtree Road to improve sight visibility, which will involve changes to the grade. During these weekends, traffic capacity will be reduced to two lanes (one lane for each direction). These traffic shifts will be in place from Friday at 7 p.m. until the following Monday at 6 a.m. on each weekend.

Additionally, in the next several weeks, motorists can expect the installation of benches, a bike rack and trash cans. Lights also will soon be installed within the center medians.

Beginning August 5th, the traffic capacity of the driveway leading into Capitol City Plaza and Sovereign will be reduced by half. Work on the east and west portion of the driveway will take 14 days—seven days for each half.
