Making a ‘dated’ home attractive

The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc. is launching its 2008 Tour of Kitchens to highlight some of Atlanta’s most renowned designers March 29 and 30.

Homeowners looking to renovate a kitchen space will have an opportunity on the tour to glean fresh, new and modern design tips as well as learn about local designers they could hire for the project.

Among the featured designers are: Design Galleria, Hammersmith, Diversified Cabinets, Home Rebuilders, Cornerstone, Brooks Kitchens and Baths, Bulthaup, Schuon, CSI Kitchen and Bath Studio, Living Spaces, Residential Construction Specialties, Fusion Design Group, Distinctive Remodeling and Thelen Design Build.

The tour will feature appearances by several of Atlanta’s most legendary chefs and will include demonstrations.

Kitchen tours will begin March 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tours will continue on March 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Tickets for the 2008 Tour of Kitchens are $25 in advance or $35 the day of event. Tickets good for both days of the tour.

30 years

The 30th Annual Spring Atlanta Home Show is coming to the Georgia World Congress Center, located at 285 Andrew Young International Blvd., N.W., March 13-16.

This year’s show will feature home improvement, remodeling, interior design concepts, cooking demonstrations, landscaping and tips for undertaking home projects. In honor of the 30th anniversary, 30 prizes will be handed out, 30 wines will be featured at the Circle of Wine: 30 Wines for 30 Years tasting event and 30 firefighters will compete to be featured in the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation calendar. Participant vote will determine the winners.

Other highlights of this year’s Atlanta Home Show will include a NASCAR simulator, dancing demonstrations, cocktail mixing lessons and a drawing for two round trip airfares from AirTran. Visitors who donate a non-perishable food item at the show will be entered in the drawing. Proceeds from this year’s event will support the Atlanta Food Bank.

Tickets to the Home Show are $10 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12 and $5 for adults with a Military ID. Children age 5 and under as well as seniors over 65 get in free. For information about parking at the Georgia World Congress Center call (770) 798-1997.
