Sandy Springs Mayor and City Council recently approved seven intersection improvement projects to move forward toward implementation.

The intersection improvement projects include, but are not limited to: signal upgrades, restriction of certain turn movements during high traffic volumes, striping improvements, sidewalk sections with handicap accessibility ramps, overhead sign installations, and pedestrian upgrades. Staff has held several meetings with the contractors to review any questions and to emphasize the 120-day timeline set forth for the projects’ completions.

“These are smaller projects that the City can implement to add safety improvements and increase traffic flow at these intersections quickly,” said Angelia Parham, Sandy Springs Public Works Director. “These projects can be constructed within the City’s existing rights-of-way, reducing the costs significantly.”

The list of intersections that were approved include: Johnson Ferry Road at Glenridge Connector, Johnson Ferry Road at Roswell Road, Dunwoody Place at Hightower Trail, Mt. Vernon Highway at Dupree Road, Dunwoody Place at Hope Road, Glenridge Drive at Mabry Road and Spalding Drive at Dalrymple Road.
