While the real estate market has been slower than normal, Harry Norman Realtors and its agents have been busy recently sponsoring events that benefited the High Museum of Art and the Brookwood Hills Garden Club.

Harry Norman sponsored the High Museum’s Artful Garden Tour, which featured six of Atlanta’s fine gardens including one in Buckhead’s Loring Heights.

The Artful Garden Tour 2008 serves as the primary fundraising event for the Art Partners – a volunteer and social organization associated with the High Museum that provides an opportunity for art education and appreciation through artist and art collector networking, social interaction and most notably, fundraising events for the museum. Tour proceeds directly benefit the High. Last year, the Tour raised $15,000 of the $83,000 Art Partners donated to the High.

Also, the realty company sponsored the 80th anniversary celebration for the Brookwood Hills Garden Club. The event included a party and an auction that raised nearly $30,000 to support the improvement and beautification of Brookwood Hills.

The club’s first fundraiser was a 1938 October dance in an empty pool designed to raise money for the proposed purchase of land adjacent to the neighborhood park. During World War II, the club maintained a model Victory Garden at Egleston Hospital, baked cookies for soldiers departing from Brookwood Station, raised money for War Bonds and rolled bandages.

Later projects included support for the Shepherd Spinal Center, the Atlanta Symphony, the Wren’s Nest and Rhodes Hall. In more recent year, the neighborhood park has been a major recipient of the garden club’s labors and funds.
