CH2M HILL, the private company which manages operations for the City of Sandy Springs and employs most of its workers, announced May 29 it donated $5,000 to Deyang, China on behalf of the City and the company. Deyang was severely damaged by the May 18 earthquake in Sichuan Province. Representatives from Deyang visited Sandy Springs in November and proposed a sister city partnership, which Mayor Eva Galambos recently said remains an unlikely possibility.

“Right now, money is the greatest and most urgent need. We hope you will help by contributing to this fund for our friends,” Galambos said in a release.

Contributions can be sent to the Chinese Consulate General Disaster Relief Office, 3417 Montrose Blvd., Houston, Texas 77006. Checks should be made out to the Chinese Consulate General and the memo should read “Deyang Earthquake Relief.”
