Four juveniles ranging in age from 12 to 14 and calling themselves the Pitts Road Mafia were recently arrested and charged with a string of burglaries and acts of vandalism.

They were charged with 12 burglaries and 20 acts of vandalism and may be responsible for 20 to 40 more incidents, Sandy Springs police Lt. Steve Rose said.

A maintenance worker at the Parc of Dunwoody Apartments spotted three of them going into a vacant unit Sept. 5 and called police. Officers responded to the apartment and eventually persuaded one of the adolescents to open the door. The other two were found hiding in a closet, and on Sept. 9 the fourth youth was arrested, Rose said.

Because of their ages, the suspects had “limited access as to where they could fence (stolen items), so there’s a lot of property out there that we need to recover,” Rose said. “Right now the officers are going back and clearing up reports they’re responsible for. … Our focus is to get them to cooperate as much as we can.”
