The following information was provided to the Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Aggravated assault

3200 Roswell Road, 30305 – An officer was flagged down Oct. 5 in reference to a fight. When the officer and emergency medical personnel attempted to help a heavily intoxicated man, he began to fight with them, for which he was charged. Two men had attacked him. A woman was with him, but she was unharmed.

Auto theft

2600 block of Peachtree Road, 30305 – A victim reported Oct. 5 he left his car parked on the street while he was in Christ the King Church. He left his keys hidden in the car, and when he returned, the vehicle was gone.

2000 block of Defoors Ferry Road, 30318 – A victim reported Oct. 9 her 1995 Ford Windstar with two flat tires was stolen from the parking lot of J’s Cigars.


2200 block of Bolton Drive, 30318 – A man was shot dead in his home by an intruder Oct. 7.

Commercial burglary

3600 block of Peachtree Road, 30326 – A victim at Griffin Electric reported Oct. 9 someone stole 10 small reels of 10- and 12-gauge copper wire. Two locks were missing from the storage shed containing the items. Police were unable to find fingerprints because of rain and mud.

1700 block of Peachtree Street, 30360 – A manager at Mellow Mushroom reported Oct. 9 he received two phone calls from the restaurant’s alarm company in the early morning. When he went to the business, he found two 52-inch televisions, valued at a total of $1,700, had been stolen. The thieves may have gained entry through a patio window that has plastic and metal bars around it.

Commercial robbery

3600 block of Peachtree Road, 30360 – Orlando Strozier, 38, was arrested Oct. 8 and charged with shoplifting $300.33 worth of razors and condoms from a CVS pharmacy by putting them into his backpack. He was apparently followed by a CVS employee into the neighboring Borders bookstore, where he made an “aggressive move” toward the employee but did not touch him. Officers were given a description of Strozier and arrested him as he walked down East Paces Ferry Road. They frisked him and found he was unarmed. Before the incident, Strozier had been arrested 46 times and had been convicted of shoplifting eight times.

Pedestrian robbery

Peachtree Road and Terrace Drive, 30305 – A victim reported Oct. 7 he was taking his morning walk when he was approached by a man in dark clothes with a silver earring. The man told the victim, “Give me your wallet,” then said, “Give me your wallet or I will kill you.” The victim gave the robber his wallet.

Residential burglary

1600 block of Mount Paran Road, 30327 – A builder from Canonbury Homes Inc. reported Oct. 9 someone forced open the automatic gates of a property to gain access to a home under construction. Copper drain spouts and miscellaneous tools worth a total of $53,700 were stolen. Police were unable to recover quality fingerprints.

4100 block of Stratford Road, 30342 – A victim reported Oct. 9 a residence under construction was broken into, and various items were stolen.
