The DPR Foundation, the charitable arm of DPR Construction Inc., a national technical builder, became a major sponsor of an educational program of the Brookhaven Boys & Girls Club with the presentation Dec. 17 of a check for $40,000.

DPR Construction has its regional offices at 5901 Peachtree-Dunwoody Road in Sandy Springs.

The DPR Foundation’s donation will support the Brookhaven Boys & Girls Club’s Power Hour tutorial program, which offers comprehensive homework help and tutoring to all members, ages 6 to 18.

“The time when it hurts to give is the time when the giving is needed and respected the most,” said former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Steve Bartkowski, who heads up DPR’s business development. “It’s not the kids’ fault that the economy is bad, and they shouldn’t be the ones that suffer. That’s why we want to help.”

At the check presentation, DPR regional manager Andy Andres emphasized the Atlanta office’s plans to volunteer regularly with the Power Hour program to tutor and mentor children at the Brookhaven branch.

“The check is only half of our contribution,” Andres said. “Our entire office will volunteer our time to help this organization and make a difference in the lives of these children. We are committed to this community and couldn’t be more excited about our new relationship together.”

The Brookhaven Boys & Girls Club is one of four nonprofits nationwide the foundation is supporting as a part of a company program to help disadvantaged children and make a difference in communities.
