The following letter was sent to members of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners, DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis, members of the DeKalb Board of Education, and state Reps. Mike Jacobs and Fran Millar, as well as media outlets, regarding the Sembler Co.’s efforts to get a 20-year tax abatement for its Town Brookhaven development.

To the editor:

The general membership of the Ashford Alliance Community Association has voted to support the elected officials who are in opposition to the Sembler tax abatement request. In particular, the AACA would like to thank Mike Jacobs, Fran Millar, Elaine Boyer, Kathy Gannon and Burrell Ellis. In addition, the AACA supports the other DeKalb County Board of Commissioners members and the DeKalb County school board members who oppose the tax abatement.

It is our understanding that the issue has been postponed by the DeKalb County Development Authority for action at a later date. The AACA implores its representatives and other county elected officials to continue their opposition to the tax abatement.
