The Buckhead Coalition has a wall full of plaques in its Tower Place offices but is eager to get another — and pay for it. This one is of historic significance and has been missing for years.

A bare stone monument facing Peachtree Road at the side of E. Rivers Elementary School, at Peachtree and Peachtree Battle Avenue, once displayed a bronze plaque from the Daughters of the American Revolution that heralded the origin of Peachtree. Now there are 13 roadways in Buckhead with Peachtree in their name.

Coalition President Sam Massell “suspects it is long forgotten in someone’s basement, left over from a fraternity initiation or some other prank.”

So the coalition is offering $100 for the return of the plaque, no questions asked. Just call Massell at 404-233-2228 to arrange a convenient swap.
