On Sept. 16, the city of Sandy Springs embarked on its 2010 paving program and will continue the work for approximately three months. The new budget includes $5.825 million for the resurfacing and reconstructing of city streets.
Contractor C. W. Matthews will be paving at night Sunday through Thursday, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., to avoid times of high-volume traffic.
The first roads slated for paving are:
Lake Forrest Drive from Northwoods Drive to Barbara Lane
Long Island Drive from Mount Vernon Highway to Mount Paran Road
Peachtree-Dunwoody Road from Spalding Drive to Abernathy Road
Mount Vernon Highway from Peachtree-Dunwoody Road to the city limits
Spalding Drive intersection at Roberts Drive
Portable message signs, emails and Web posts are being used to notify the residents and motorists of the areas where paving will take place.
