The restaurant, which is expected to open in Spring 2010, will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a contemporary and casual setting. Chef Acheson, a finalist for this year’s James Beard Foundation’s Best Chefs in the Southeast Award and a Food and Wine Best New Chef in 2002, owns two restaurants in Athens, Five & Ten and The National, but Empire State So. will be his first Atlanta project offering Southern-inspired fare and utilizing fresh and local ingredients. The restaurant will also feature an herb garden and bocce ball court.
