The following information was provided to the Reporter by the Sandy Springs Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.
Glenmanor Court 30328 – Unspecified items, probably appliances or copper, were stolen from a house under construction Feb. 1.
100 block of East Belle Isle 30342 – Someone entered a house that was under construction and took several tools Feb. 1.
8800 block of Dunwoody Place 30350 – Someone door-kicked an apartment door and made entry Feb. 1.
4600 block of Huntley Drive 30342 – A stove and refrigerator were taken from a vacant home Feb. 3.
200 block of Johnson Ferry Road 30328 – Someone forced entry into a restaurant Feb. 4, activating the alarm. A witness said a silver car occupied by a woman was parked alongside the building about 5:30 a.m. He saw a man walk from the building to the car, then heard the alarm sound. The owner said nothing was missing.
100 block of Spalding Trail 30350 – A man reported that someone forced entry into his apartment Feb. 4 and took a laptop, a Sony PlayStation3, a cell phone and jewelry.
800 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – A student at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School reported Feb. 1 that someone stole her laptop.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – A man took several 12-packs of beer and left without paying Feb. 1.
Concourse Parkway 30328 – A man reported that someone went into his gym locker at the Concourse Athletic Club and took his keys, $200 in cash and his pants. He found the keys and pants.
5400 block of Glenridge Drive 30342 – Employees of an apartment leasing office said two men were in the media room using a company laptop. The video shows that when they were done, one of the men took the computer.
7400 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A man reported that he left his car running outside a convenience store Feb. 2 while he grabbed a bite to eat inside. Someone got into the car and drove off.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – A man entered Target and took five camcorders worth about $1,000 from the electronics section Feb. 3. He then sprinted out to a waiting pickup truck, which sped off.
Theft from vehicle
Items were stolen from vehicles broken into at the following locations:

• 4700 block of Roswell Road 30342, Feb. 3.
• 1100 block of Hammond Drive 30328, Feb. 3.
• Glenlake Parkway 30328, Feb. 3.
• 500 block of Northridge Road 30350, Feb. 3.
• 1100 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328, Feb. 4.
Forgery, fraud and ID theft
A woman said someone used her ID to open an account at a bank in Nashville, Tenn. The culprit put $175 into the account, then returned a short time later and deposited a check for $1,900, less $1,700 cashed out at the time of the deposit. When the check proved to be fraudulent, the victim was notified.
6500 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A man reported Feb. 3 he was in the Department of Family and Children Services in downtown Atlanta when he was approached by a woman calling herself Erica Simms. She said she was a lawyer and wanted to know whether he needed one. He did, and he signed several documents retaining Simms and gave her $1,000 cash because she said cash would expedite the case. He hasn’t seen her since. He did talk to her later, and she used the name Erica Blake, obviously getting her aliases mixed up.
5900 block of Roswell Road 30342 – The manager of Office Depot reported that two men wearing New Orleans Saints clothing tried to purchase a computer with 10 fake $100 bills. When the money was recognized as counterfeit, the men fled.
900 block of Harbor Pointe Parkway 30350 – A man went to another apartment to ask the resident to turn the music down Feb. 3. The resident came out, assaulted the man and left in a white Ford Crown Victoria.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – Target employees called the cops after a woman paid for $25 worth of items with a counterfeit $100 bill. The officers spoke with the woman, who gave them fake names, birth dates and driver’s license numbers. She went here and there with the story, but the officers were able to locate her correct name and arrest her. They found at least two other stores where she used fake $100 bills to purchase low-dollar amounts of merchandise. The bills were not all that good, showing bleached-out marks and mistakes that were not hard to see. Most of the time counterfeiters count on a quick transaction and hope the employee doesn’t mark the bill or notice it too closely.
5500 block of Roswell Road 30342 – An officer watched a man pull up to a fast food restaurant Feb. 1 and appear to be handed something by another guy. The action was suspicious, so the officer stopped the car and spoke to the man, who said he bought some “weed” in a potato-chip bag from the other guy. He was charged with possession and released.
6000 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A man attempted to open an account Feb. 1 with a fraudulent check for more than $3,200. He was arrested.
1100 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – Publix employees observed a man steal several grocery items and try to leave Feb. 2. They detained him until cops arrived. He was arrested.
1100 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – A guy was arrested after attempting to steal $118 in beer from Publix.
Monterrey Parkway 30350 – Cops arrested a man on domestic violence charges Feb. 4 after he punched his 49-year-old mother. She suffered a loose tooth and lacerations.
Abernathy Road and Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – Officers were called to meet with a cabbie in reference to a female passenger who was drunk and could not pay. The man said the woman hailed the cab, then had him stop so she could buy a bottle of wine. She drank half of it before the cabbie realized that she couldn’t pay the $40 tab. The officer noted that she has done this before, and he believes that she is homeless. She was arrested.
6000 block of Roswell Road 30328 – Two women called police to the Taboo 2 club Feb. 1 and reported that a man came up to them and asked them to dance. When they refused, he spilled a drink on them. His version: They spilled a drink on him.
800 block of Marseilles Drive 30328 – A man reported Feb. 1 that his friend slashed his tires and admitted on the phone that he did it. The motive: The victim had a hook-up with the suspect’s girlfriend.
4500 block of Roswell Road 30342 – A woman called the police Feb. 1 and said she and her live-in boyfriend got into an argument. He left the apartment, and she ran after him, chasing him around for a while. No charges were filed. Both were said to be drinking.
