We receive news and tips about shops and restaurants closing far too often, so when we heard from a reliable source that Ben & Jerry’s ice cream shop in Virginia Highland was closing the first weekend in May we were disappointed that we would be losing another business in our neighborhood. I am happy to report that this information was wrong.

We ran an item in our Quick Bites section that Ben & Jerry’s had closed, and over the weekend we received several emails from patrons stating that the ice cream shop was still open and had no intention of closing. This afternoon I spoke to Ben & Jerry’s co-owner Kim Lee, who assured me that the shop – which is located at 800 N. Highland Ave. – is definitely open for business. We regret such an egregious error, but could not be more happy to report that Ben & Jerry’s is still scooping ice cream as we head into summer.

Supporting local businesses is one of the missions of Atlanta INtown, and our goal is to accurately report information about those businesses, especially when celebrating their milestones, triumphs and special events. We failed to do that with the report on Ben & Jerry’s and for that we sincerely apologize. We hope all our readers will head over to Ben & Jerry’s, order a scoop of Cherry Garcia or order up a cake for your upcoming party. Be sure to visit their website at for your catering needs as well.
