An explosion blew out the front wall of an apartment and injured a man in the 7600 block of Roswell Road shortly after mid-day May 31, Sandy Springs police reported.
The cause of the blast has not yet been determined, police said, but neighbors reported smelling gas prior to the explosion.
Police did not name the injured man, who they said was in his 30s. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of burns to his face and neck.
The man apparently was thrown from inside the apartment to the park lot as a result of the blast, police said. The apartment, a unit of the Edgewater at Sandy Springs Apartments, was severely damaged, but adjacent units in the 10-unit building did not appear seriously damaged, police said.
Fire officials on the scene reported that any fire related to the explosion was quickly extinguished, police reported.
