HangingColoredThingsGeorgia State University’s budding artists have an opportunity to showcase their work to the public at an art exhibition open to the public through June 23. The Summer 2010 MFA Group Show features work by 11 Masters of Fine Arts students from the Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design. The pieces will be displayed in the large gallery of the School of Art and Design, which is in the lobby of the Arts and Humanities Building at 10 Peachtree Center Ave.

“The MFA in Studio program is an important time for growth and maturation of creative ideas,” said Cheryl Goldsleger, academic director of the School of Art and Design. “Developing the professional practices of a serious artist compliments the creative work being done in the studio. This summer show is a great opportunity for our first and second year graduate students to share their work with the GSU community and in the process gets some valuable exhibition experience.”

Featured artists include In Kyoung Chun and Christina Washington from the Drawing, Painting and Printmaking discipline; James Chapman and Cat Normoyle from Graphic Design; Candice Greathouse, and Calvin Burgamy from Photography; Nimer Aleck, Kelly Obrien and James Vanderpool from Sculpture; Andrew Cho and Laura Martin from Ceramics.
