At about 3 p.m. on April 27, an unidentified man entered the Georgia Banking Company, located at 6190 Powers Ferry Road in Sandy Springs. The bank is located in a suite on the first floor of a multi-level office building, so the man first asked the two female bank tellers if he was indeed in a real bank, police said.
The man then said he had a gun and needed money for his sick child. Police said the suspect spoke in a low, calm voice and was very apologetic. The man said he would not hurt the bank tellers, police said. No weapon was presented or seen.
The teller unlocked her drawer and allowed the man to take about $8,000 in cash and 20 blank cashiers checks, police said. The man deposited the money into a plastic bag and calmly departed the bank, police said.
The man wore dark sunglasses, a dark blue jacket, a dark shirt, blue jeans and grey running shoes, police said. He did not wear gloves. There are no warrants for this suspect at this time. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
