The following information was provided to the Reporter by the Sandy Springs Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Robbery

5300 block Roswell Road 30342 – A woman reported that she pulled into her apartment parking lot Aug. 21. She got out when she saw a black Ford Expedition pull up. Inside the car were two males. One male got out and asked her if she knew “Juan.” She replied no, turned away and walked from the man. He grabbed her and pushed her down. The man then took her keys and drove her car away.

Burglary

Old Stratton Chase 30342 – On Aug. 21, someone forced a rear door to the residence and took several items, including two televisions and computer equipment. A vehicle was also stolen.

100 block Allen Road 30328 – A man reported that sometime during the night of Aug. 22, someone entered his office and took a laptop valued at $2000. A second burglary was later reported in this same complex.

7000 block Roswell Road 30328 – Someone burglarized the model apartment in the apartment complex on Aug. 22. A stereo valued at $75 was taken.

Longchamps Drive 30342 – A woman reported that while at home on Aug. 23, she heard a noise that sounded like someone walking up the stairway. She went upstairs and when she went into the bedroom, she found a man hiding in her closet. The man assaulted the woman, hitting her, and then kicked her after she fell to the floor. The man then ran out to a waiting car described as a gray American-made car.

Tynecastle Way 30350 – Someone forced a door to a home on Aug. 23 and then stole two televisions.

6900 block Roswell Road 30328 – Someone forced a door open to the victim’s apartment Aug. 23 and then took a TV, computer and several other items.

4800 block Roswell Road 30342 – The resident reported someone forced open a sliding door to his apartment Aug. 23 and took several items including a phone, computer and a watch.

8200 block Colquitt Road 30350 – The victim reported someone entered an apartment Aug. 24 through a back window and took two game systems.

600 block of Weatherly Drive 30328 – Someone took a cooktop from a vacant home on Aug. 24.

6500 block of Williamson Drive 30328 – A lawn mower was stolen from a carport on Aug. 24.

200 block of Lafayette Drive 30342 – Someone entered the victim’s home Aug. 24 through an unlocked door and took the victim’s phone, which was in her purse. She said there were workmen at the location at the time.

6300 block of Roswell Road 30328 – The former “KC BBQ” restaurant was burglarized Aug. 25 by someone who was apparently looking to steal copper. The building is now vacant.

200 block of Glen Lake Drive 30342 – The resident of a home returned home Aug. 25 and found the door broken and lying on the front porch. She called the police, who checked the house and found that someone had forced entry and taken a TV, laptop computer and jewelry.

6200 block Barfield Road 30328 – Someone broke a window Aug. 26 and it appears took a computer from an office.

4800 block Lake Forrest Drive 30328 – Someone took lawn equipment from a carport storage area Aug. 27.

5800 block Roswell Road 30328 – Someone took copper from an unoccupied commercial building on Aug. 27.

5500 block Glenridge Drive 30342 – The victim reported Aug. 27 that while she was on vacation, someone broke into her apartment and took a TV and several other electronic items. A second burglary was later reported in this same complex.

Theft

5600 block Roswell Road 30342 – A silver 2006 VW Jetta was reported stolen Aug. 21.

6900 block Roswell Road 30328 – A 2004 Saturn Ion was reported stolen Aug. 22.

Cedar Run 30350 – A woman said that a male visitor stole her phone. He told police that he didn’t take it.

An employee at Northside Hospital (30342) reported someone stole her purse from her office area.

7700 block of Stables Drive 30350 – Three air-conditioning units were reported stolen on Aug. 23.

5300 block Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30342 – Someone stole a thirty-two inch TV from the fitness room at an apartment complex on Aug. 23.

6500 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A restaurant manager called the police Aug. 24 and reported that an employee, while not on duty, went into the office of the restaurant and took just over $300 in cash. The video showed the employee in the act of the theft. Warrants were being taken for the suspect.

1000 block Abernathy Road 30328 – The owner of a newsstand noticed that he was coming up short on lotto tickets, ice cream and cigarettes. He installed a security camera, and when he came up short again, he reviewed the video. It showed the night security guard unlocking the door, coming in and stealing lotto tickets, ice cream, and cigarettes. Theft warrants were being taken for the guard.

5300 block Roswell Road 30342 – Someone reported a 2003 Chevrolet Impala stolen Aug. 26.

6900 block Roswell Road 30328 – A 2010 black Mazda 3 was stolen on Aug 26.

1400 block of Johnson Ferry Road 30342 – The complainant on Aug. 26 said a care giver stole a check and later cashed it. The victim lives in an assisted-living complex.

Thefts from vehicles

5500 block Roswell Road 30342 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 21.

5900 block Roswell Road 30342 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 21.

2000 block Summit Springs Drive 30350 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 22.

1100 block Perimeter Center West 30328 – A witness saw this theft and reported Aug. 23 that two males in a Jeep with a Florida tag pulled up next to the car. One of the men got out, got into the victim’s car, and then took the items. The witness followed the Jeep, but when they realized it, they drove in a manner so as to evade the witness, and she lost them. It appears they used a device to punch the lock on the door.

400 block Morgan Falls Drive 30350 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 23.

Bonnie Lane 30328 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 24.

5700 block Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 24.

6300 block of Powers Ferry Road 30327 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 25.

1300 block Glenridge/ Stratford Drive 30342 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 25.

5600 block Roswell Road 30342 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 26.

400 block of Morgan Falls Drive 30350 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 26.

5600 block Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 26.

6000 block Roswell Road 30328 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 26.

5600 block Roswell Road 30342 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 27.

3300 block Sandalwood Drive 30350 – Items were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 27.

Assaults

300 block Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – A woman reported Aug. 24 that she complained to another woman that her baby was too loud. In response, the baby’s mother got up and hit the victim across the face with an open hand and then told her she would be outside waiting to finish it off. The suspect then left. The victim said that she has seen the suspect before at the library.

Marsh Trail Circle 30350 – Officers responded to a report Aug. 25 that someone had been stabbed at an apartment. They found a woman who had been stabbed twice, once in the arm and once in the leg. She told the police that she was arguing with another woman, who pulled a 4-inch knife and tried to stab her. The wound in the arm was a defense wound as the victim tried to fend off the suspect. The victim said she and the other woman were in a relationship, but during the argument she “flipped out” and started stabbing her. The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening. The suspect was taken to the Fulton County jail.

5500 block Roswell Road 30342 – The victim reported Aug. 27 that during the early afternoon, he was in his apartment when several men came in and pulled guns on him. While inside the apartment, one of the men was on the phone in a conversation with another person over the location of drugs. The men appeared to be unsure whether they were in the right apartment. The men then left. One of the intruders apologized to the victim, saying that they may have been in the wrong apartment. The victim said there were 10 men total, of varying ages.

This case is still being investigated.

Arrests

Hammond Drive and Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – Patrol officers spoke to a man Aug. 22 who said that he left his wallet at a bagel shop but that when he went back to get it, it was gone. He called his bank and was told that someone had tried to use his card at an ATM at the Publix in the same shopping complex. The officers viewed the video of the ATM and saw a man that could have been the man using the stolen card. The officer went back to the bagel shop and found an employee who matched the video description. The officer started talking to the man about the theft when the man pushed the officer and then bolted out the back door. The man was later found and arrested for the theft, forgery and obstructing the officer. During his arrest he admitted to stealing the card.

Stranger than fiction

A patrol officer who was in the area of Northside Hospital was flagged down by a man. The man told him that he and a woman were playing truth or dare. The dare was that she would put ice down the back of the man’s shirt. Instead, according to the man, she poured alcohol down the back of his shirt and then set it on fire. The man got mad, left, and went to work. He later went to the hospital with second- and third-degree burns on his back. The suspect is a roommate of his friend, and this was the first time he had met her.
