A chase of two robbery suspects by Zone 2 Atlanta police officers Oct. 7 led to the lockdown of Christ the King School on Peachtree Way in Buckhead on Oct. 7.

The two burglary suspects had kicked in the door of a home on Peachtree Valley Road and ran from the home when they discovered the residents were inside, according to police  reports.

Zone 2 Capt. Randell Robinson said the two suspects left the scene in a car and then abandoned the vehicle “at an apartment building in the 2600 block of Peachtree Road.” He said a Zone 2 officer spotted the car where it had been abandoned and police began to search that area, about a mile north of where the suspects had kicked in the door of the home.

Robinson said that the reason the school was placed in lockdown, was because the school also is located in the 2600 block of Peachtree Road.

Capt. Robinson said police officers discovered one of the suspects hiding in a dumpster behind the Park Place condominiums, also located in the 2600 block of Peachtree Road. The second suspect managed to escape from the scene, but Robinson said that the suspect in custody had identified the suspect at large and police expect to capture that person soon.

Capt. Robinson said the suspect in custody also identified at least two other locations the two had burglarized in Buckhead, one at 40 Peachtree Valley Road and the other at 2399 Parkland Drive.
