Dunwoody voters will decide Nov. 2 whether to extend a homestead exemption that gives them a break on the property taxes of a primary residence.
Approval of the exemption will eliminate an automatic sunset of the exemption and allow the tax break to continue indefinitely.
Homeowners must actively file for the exemption. In Dunwoody, the assessed value of a home was frozen in late 2008, when it was incorporated.
A “yes” vote will extend the freeze, based on state-enabling legislation that authorizes the city’s vote.
