The following information was provided to The Reporter by the Sandy Springs Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.


500 block of Northridge Road 30350 – The victim said that shortly before 2 a.m. Oct. 27, he was walking to his apartment when he was robbed of his wallet. He said a male came up from behind and put an object that he took as a gun to his head. The man took the victim’s wallet and a watch and then hit him on the head with an object. The victim said he turned and saw a male running from the location. He was wearing dark pants and a dark winter jacket with a hood. The wallet, minus $340, was later found.


1100 block of Summit Springs Drive 30350 – The victim reported Oct. 23 that someone broke a window to gain access to the home. Speakers, clothing and a television were reported missing.

8100 block of Innsbruck Drive 30350 – An officer responded to an alarm just after 5 p.m. Oct. 23. Witnesses said they saw four males leave the house in a black SUV. It appears the burglars forced the door open, activating the alarm. They tore the alarm panel off the wall — which does not deactivate the alarm. A television and jewelry appear to be missing. It looks like the alarm cut short the burglary.

200 block of Preston Woods Trail 30328 – The victim’s apartment was entered Oct. 25 through a patio door, and the burglar took a 43-inch television.

4700 block of Dudley Lane 30342 – The victim found her garage door open Oct. 26 and the door to her house forced open. Several electronic items were taken. The alarm was not set.

4900 block of Roswell Road 30342 – An auto-care business reported a burglary Oct. 26. No forced entry was found. The missing items include a scanner and computer that were taken from a locked room.

600 block of Preston Woods Drive 30328 – A TV was stolen Oct. 27.

500 block of Northridge Road 30350 – A TV was taken from an apartment leasing office Oct. 28.

900 block of Abernathy Road 30328 – A TV was stolen from a condo club room Oct. 28.


Cedar Run 30350 – A cabbie reported Oct. 23 that he picked up a fare on Ralph David Abernathy Road in Atlanta and dropped him on Cedar Run. The man then got out, saying he would get the money and return. He didn’t. The fare was $47.

5200 block of Long Island Drive 30342 – The victim reported Oct. 23 that someone entered his house and took several items from boxes. The home was undergoing renovation and was not occupied at the time of the theft.

800 block of Dalrymple Road 30350 – A man reported a stolen 2006 Toyota Matrix on Oct. 24.

7800 block of Roswell Road 30350 – A woman did her laundry at a public laundry Oct. 25. She placed her wallet on a washer while she put her clothes in another one. She discovered her wallet had been taken. She said there was another family there at the time. Later, a man returned to the laundry and said his 7-year-old daughter had taken the wallet. He returned it and all its contents.

A woman walked into the Rite-Aid store to pick up a prescription for Oxycontin. She wrote a check for the prescription and the pharmacist informed her that the check was declined. The woman grabbed the Oxycontin and left anyway.

A man on Nesbit Downs Way said his outgoing mail, including checks, was stolen from his mailbox.

A man on Hammond Drive said he sold some tires and rims to someone on for $4,100. The check he received was no good. The report didn’t say if he sent the goods to the person or not, but as a rule, don’t do anything until the check clears.

Glenlake Parkway 30328 – Someone stole a 2005 Jaguar from a parking deck Oct. 27.

1100 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – Officers were called to the LA Fitness gym Oct. 27 after a woman reported that her cell phone was stolen while she was playing basketball. The phone was alongside the court and unsecured. The woman then threw a fit at the desk because of the theft. The officer took the report and then lectured the woman on how to handle stress.

8200 block of Colquitt Road 30350 – The victim discovered Oct. 28 that someone used his car and then returned it. He found a hat that didn’t belong to him, and his ignition was damaged — not to mention the car was parked in another space.

200 block of Spring Creek Lane 30350 – A silver four-door 1997 Honda Accord was stolen Oct. 28.

300 block Meadowbrook Drive 30342, Oct. 25.

A man on the 7100 block of Roswell Road sent $350 to New Delhi, India, to a company called “U.S. Grant Department.” He was under the impression that he would get a grant for school. He never heard back.

5500 block of Lake Forrest Drive 30328 – A man reported Oct. 25 that an employee used a company credit card and made a number of purchases on it totaling over $1,700. They checked the card activity after she didn’t show for work. They checked her apartment and found that she had been evicted weeks earlier.


1100 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – A man was arrested Oct. 23 after he was spotted looking into car windows in the shopping center parking lot. The man was intoxicated. When questioned why he was looking in a car, he refused to answer and then wet his pants. The officer found that he was wanted in Americus for public intoxication. He was taken to the Doraville Jail.

A man on Northwood Drive was arrested after he assaulted his girlfriend because he thought she was cheating on him with the security guard at a bar down the street. He was taken to the Doraville Jail.

200 block of Sandy Springs Circle 30328 – Just before 7 a.m. Oct. 23 officers found a car that had hit a utility pole. There was no one with the car. Another patrol officer found a man who ran from the officer and over a brick wall at the Reddington Place Townhomes. The officer pursued him on foot and caught him. He was arrested for prowling and possessing marijuana. The report doesn’t say if he was the driver. He was taken to the Doraville Jail.

Just after 11 a.m. an officer responded to the call of a female flagging down cars on Dalrymple Road. He located the woman and found that she was wanted on a Fulton County warrant for failure to appear. She was taken to the Fulton County Jail.

Officers responded to Ga. 400 near the MARTA station on a man that was walking “erratically” alongside the highway. They found the man, who told the officers he was walking to Alpharetta. He was found to have an outstanding warrant in Fulton County for probation violation. He was taken to Fulton County Jail.

An officer stopped a car on Ga. 400 and Northridge Road. The driver had an outstanding warrant from Atlanta police for trespassing. He was arrested and turned over to APD.

Perimeter Center West 30328 – Officers received a theft call Oct. 24 at the Goodwill store. They detained a woman who had left the store but apparently had returned the items after being confronted outside by an employee. She was acting disorderly and that, along with the theft, caused her to be arrested.

5800 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A man was arrested Oct. 24 after running a $75 tab at the El Toro restaurant and then refusing to pay. The tab included the two 64-ounce margarita pitchers he drank. What he did was drink the margaritas, eat the food, and then tell the staff he was not happy with the food and thus refused to pay. He was taken to the Doraville Jail.

5800 block of Hilderbrand Drive 30328 – Officers responded to a suspicious-person call Oct. 24. The complainant said a man rang her doorbell and then walked away. They found the man, who said that he was looking for his girlfriend, but she wasn’t home. He rang the neighbor’s doorbell to see if they knew where she was. (This was about 12:30 a.m.) The man was found to have a warrant on him for probation violation in Fulton County. He was arrested and taken to Fulton County Jail.

A man was arrested at the Kroger on Sandy Springs Place after he took a bottle of wine, put it down his pants, and then tried to leave.

A man was arrested at the Kroger on Sandy Springs Place after stealing a stick of Old Spice Deodorant, valued at just over $4.

Other things

An officer met with a man who said that his ex-girlfriend called him excessively and refused to stop calling. While the officer was there, the ex-girlfriend called. The officer answered the phone. The woman ranted and raved and cursed on the phone, not knowing it was the officer. When he finally got a chance, he told her who he was and told her not to call back. She cussed him out, too, and said she would call another 100 times.
