A fire at an abandoned residence on  Dresden Drive gutted most of the structure, but firefighters are not sure of the cause of the blaze.

The residence, located less than a block from DeKalb Fire Station No. 7, was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at 4 a.m. on Dec. 24.

DeKalb firefighters say the cause is unclear. No electricity was being supplied to the house, which had been vacant for years, according to DeKalb fire personnel. The incident has been passed to the arson unit for possible investigation.
