Nancy Jester is scheduled to be sworn in as Dekalb County’s newest school board member at 3 p.m. on Jan. 3.
Jester beat incumbent Jim Redovian in a Nov. 30 runoff to obtain the District 1 school board seat.
Jester, a former financial actuarial, ran on a platform of a reform in a district that is steeped in scandal.
Two top school district executives were indicted this year on criminal charges related to funneling building contracts to insiders.
A regular meeting of the new board, which will also include freshman Donna Edler, will also roll out preliminary plans for redistricting the DeKalb County school system.
