The DeKalb County School system has laid out a schedule of public meetings regarding a sweeping plan to close schools, move magnet programs and redraw attendance boundaries across the district.

In northern DeKalb County, one option calls for the shuffling of magnet programs from Chamblee High School and Chamblee Middle School to Avondale high and middle schools, located in the central part of the county.

Meanwhile, Kittredge Magnet School, located at 1663 E. Nancy Creek Dr., would lose the magnet program, which is all it currently offers, and become a neighborhood elementary school, under one of the district’s options.

All upcoming meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. They are scheduled for:

  • Miller Grove High School on Jan. 11
  • Chamblee High School on Jan. 13
  • McNair High School on Jan. 18
  • Stone Mountain High School on Jan. 20
