The City of Atlanta is shifting its focus toward cleaning neighborhood and side streets of the snow/ice left over from the snow storm that came in on Jan. 9.
“We are asking the citizens of Atlanta to immediately remove their vehicle from the city streets (both legally parked/abandoned vehicles) so efforts can be made to clean the snow/ice off the roadway,” said a statement from the Atlanta Police Department (APD).
Because of the heavy equipment being used to clear the streets; if vehicles are left on the roadway they may become damaged, the APD warned.
“Those vehicles that were left abandoned by the owners who could not negotiate the snow/ice may result in the vehicle being towed from the roadway at the owner’s expense,” the APD memo stated.
