The Atlanta Police Department is urging women in the Buckhead area to be on alert following three sex crimes/burglaries between Jan. 1 and Jan. 19 that followed a similar pattern. The crimes occurred on Lenox Road and Peachtree Park Drive.

Investigators have not definitively tied all three cases together, but say there are enough similarities to raise concerns they were committed by the same man and that he may strike again.

“We have seen an escalation in the crimes and are concerned it could reach an even higher level of violence,” Maj. Keith Meadows, Major Crimes Commander for the Atlanta Police Department, said in a press release. “We don’t want to unnecessarily alarm the public, but we also need to make sure we get the word out so people – particularly women – can stay alert.”

The APD is temporarily withholding some details of the crimes in order to protect the identities of the victims and to preserve the integrity of the investigations.

Atlanta police urge women to be aware of their surroundings, to always lock windows and doors, and to report any suspicious people or activity to 911. Anyone with information on these crimes is urged to call Atlanta Police or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
