As the Georgia state legislature cranks up for another year, there are a few new hands on the controls, but most of the veteran lawmakers from Buckhead and Sandy Springs haven’t gone anywhere.
Sen. Fran Millar (R-Dunwoody) still will lead in education. He left the House of Representatives after 10 years for a seat in the Senate and moved into the chairmanship of the Senate Education Committee.
Sen. John Albers (R-Roswell) takes five committee assignments. Reps. Tom Taylor (R-Dunwoody) and Elena Parent (D-Chamblee) each take three.
Republican Reps. Ed Lindsey of Buckhead and Wendall Willard of Sandy Springs, both lawyers, often sit on committees that cover taxing and spending bills and much of the judiciary. Add Ethics chair Rep. Joe Wilkinson and the area’s legislators make a busy, powerful trio.
