Members of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association put their votes behind a plan to bring a Chick-fil-A restaurant to Dunwoody Club Drive and Mount Vernon Road.
The votes, tallied in an online survey, run counter to a December vote of the association’s board, which recommended the city not approve the application.
The fast-food restaurant chain wants to open a restaurant on a ¾-acre site that would replace a closed Blockbuster retail building at a city shopping center. The restaurant would seat 160 both inside and outside and would include two drive-through lanes.
More than 300 people filled out the association’s online survey. Nearly 70 percent said they approved of the restaurant “as submitted.” The company’s proposal would require that the city make a number of variances to city codes. One such exception would change the zoning on the property to commercial from a retail designation.
