The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.
3400 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A residential robbery was reported on the evening of Jan. 31. One of the two victims said he was about to pour out some beer and he noticed the front door open. He saw a man with a hand gun pointed at him and the other victim. The suspect made the two victims lie on the floor face down while he searched the house. The suspect gathered some electronics on the couch but did not take anything at the time of the armed robbery.
2400 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A commercial robbery was reported at this location on Feb. 5. The victim said that a male came in and presented a note for money, then left without producing a firearm. A suspect was stopped by an officer near the MARTA station off Lindbergh.
1800 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A pedestrian robbery occurred in a parking lot on the evening of Feb. 8. Several witnesses said a woman was being assaulted in the parking lot; after responding to the area, an officer saw a man fleeing from her vehicle and running toward another car. After a brief chase on foot, officers arrested the man. The woman said that after she had cashed her income tax refund check, the man followed her out of the store and attacked her, threatening that he would kill her if she didn’t give him the money. The suspect had attempted to steal over $4,000, and also committed the act in front of the victim’s 4-year-old daughter. The man was charged with aggravated assault, cruelty to children, obstruction and entering an auto.
2300 block of Church Street, NW – A residential burglary was reported on Jan. 31. The side door of a home had been kicked in. A flat screen TV and laptop computer were taken.
10 block of 26th Street, NW – On Jan. 31, a residential burglary was reported at an apartment complex. A witness on the scene said that a suspect was seen running from the apartment with a flat panel TV. The witness saw the suspect enter a gray Dodge Charger. The suspected had kicked in the door of the apartment to gain entry.
600 block of Garson Drive, NE – A residential burglary was reported at an apartment complex on Feb. 11. The victim said she returned home after being gone two hours and noticed her apartment had been ransacked. A rear window had been broken, and someone had thrown clothes all over the floor and stolen both her and her roommate’s laptops, as well as a 28″ flat screen TV.
2200 block of 26th Street, NW – On Feb. 11 a burglary at an apartment complex was reported.
Officers responded and discovered that someone had pried open the front door of the apartment. A 42” Visio flat screen TV, an Apple Mac Pro computer, a PSP game console and a Clear wireless modem connection were stolen.
200 block of Lakemore Drive, NE – On Feb. 2, an aggravated assault at a residence was reported. The victim said he was walking his dog when approached by two males asking about his dog. He was then hit in the head by one of the suspects with a golf ball.
900 block of Ferncliff Road, NE – Aggravated assault was reported at an apartment on Feb. 7. The victim told police that he and his father were engaged in a dispute and it escalated to his father grabbing him about the neck area and putting him out of the residence which they shared. Police attempted to speak with the father, but he would not open the door. The victim was referred to Fulton County and told how to obtain a warrant. The victim refused any medical treatment at the scene.
2900 block of Piedmont AVE, NE – An auto theft was reported on Feb. 1 from a parking lot at this location. A vehicle that belongs to Land Rover of Buckhead was stolen from a nearby car wash. The vehicle is a 2005 Land Rover, and the keys were left in the vehicle when it was stolen.
2700 block of Defoors Ferry Road, NE – On the morning of Jan. 30, an auto theft was reported from a parking lot. The victim left her keys in the trunk of the vehicle.
1000 block of Huff Road, NW – An auto theft was reported from a parking lot/garage on Feb. 5. The victim said he parked his 1990 Chevrolet Caprice in the parking lot, and when he returned his vehicle was missing. The victim was unable to report the vehicle stolen immediately because it was registered to his deceased brother and he needed to transfer the registration to himself.
1600 block of Liberty Pkwy, NW – On the evening of Jan. 31, an auto theft was reported from a residence. The victim brought home a woman that he did not know. They spent the night together. When he awoke in the morning, his car keys and the car were gone.
3000 block of Piedmont Road, NE – An auto theft was reported by a business on Feb. 3.
The reporting party said that the suspect refused to return a rental car after the allotted time. The victim filed a warrant.
Larceny from Vehicle
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – On the evening of Feb. 1, a larceny from an auto was reported. The victim said he left the mall and was walking to his vehicle, which was parked in the food court area. He said he had just gotten into his vehicle when he heard a noise on the driver’s side. When he looked up, he saw a male slashing the front left tire. At the same time the front passenger window shattered, and a man reached in and grabbed a briefcase from the front passenger seat. The victim said as soon as the man got the briefcase, the two suspects took off running.
2500 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from an auto at a business was reported on Feb. 3. A woman parked her vehicle and left her purse on the rear seat. When she returned, she noticed her door handle had been jimmied/damaged. The purse contained a Beretta pistol, Blackberry cell phone, and two cameras.
500 block of Pharr Road, NE – A larceny from an auto located at a business was reported on Feb. 3. The victim’s rear window was broken out with an unknown instrument/tool. A black roller computer bag was stolen that contained an IBM laptop, Blackberry phone, passport and a credit union checkbook.
300 block of Pharr Road, NE – On the evening of Feb. 8, a larceny from an auto in a parking garage was reported. The victim said he parked his vehicle and after three hours returned. He then noticed that the side window of the vehicle was broken into. He said the thief took a laptop computer, 14 GB jump drive, two headphones, one computer pouch and a few DVDs.
2000 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny was reported Feb. 9 from an auto in a parking lot. The victim said she had been several places, but believed her vehicle was broken into while she was shopping at a grocery store at this location. She said some of the items were left on the back seat in plain view. She was parked near the loading dock. The victim said her vehicle alerted her that the door was ajar. There were several expensive items in the vehicle and the victim said her insurance would replace them. She did not have any receipts, just a sheet of paper with the missing items. There were no points of forced entry found on the vehicle. The victim said she did lock her door.
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – On Jan. 30, a larceny from a food court in a mall was reported. The victim told the officer that she was at the food court eating. She laid her wallet on the table and turned to get some napkins and when she turned around her wallet was gone. There was $30 in the wallet, a social security card, department store credit card, bank card, and an ID card.
2100 block of Piedmont Road, NW – A larceny was reported at a convenience store on Feb. 5.
The suspect was observed concealing bourbon in his pants and passing all points of sale without paying.
3100 block of Roswell Road, NE – On Feb. 5 a larceny was reported at a bar/night club. The victim said that she left her jacket at the table so she could pay her tab. When she returned, she saw her black jacket was gone. The victim said her apartment keys, cars keys & $117 were in the jacket.
500 block of Morosgo Drive, NE – A larceny was reported at an office building on Feb. 2. The reporting person said that a desk top computer (which had not been in use since 2009) was missing. The loss was not realized until the computer was due for maintenance renewal.
1400 block of Mecaslin Street, NW – A larceny from an apartment was reported on Feb. 1.
The victim said she left her pink Sony laptop at home. When she returned the next day, it was missing. There were no signs of forced entry to her apartment. The victim said she does not think it was stolen; she thinks she left it somewhere but she cannot remember. She could not verify for sure if her door was locked.
1900 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A business at this location reported a larceny on Feb. 2.
The victim said a man came into the doctor’s office advising that he was there to deliver some boxes. After the suspect left the building, a Mac book laptop was missing.
1700 block of Peachtree Street, NW – A business at this location reported a larceny on Feb. 2.
The victim said that a man posing as a delivery man came into her office and grabbed her wallet out of her purse, then fled. The victim said her debit card had been used at a grocery store across the street from the incident location.
4100 block of Arbor Gates Drive, NE – On the morning of Feb. 3, an apartment complex reported a larceny. The property manager of the apartment complex said a tenant who moved out took the washer and dryer that belonged to the property.
3400 block of Lenox Road, NE – A specialty store reported a larceny on Feb. 12.
The store manager said the crime was caught on camera. There were two iPhones unscrewed from their security devices. Each iPhone was valued at $650 each.
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – Larceny was reported at a department store Feb. 8. Officers responded to a theft by shoplifting call, and were met by store security. They said the arrested person was seen changing the price tags on two pairs of blue jeans. The person attempted to pay a lower price at the cash register, and admitted to changing the price tags. The jeans cost $379. They were recovered and returned to the store.
2500 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny was reported at a home improvement store at this location on Feb. 11. The victim said she ordered some appliances from the store and after several changes in the pick up and delivery date, her items were picked up from the location by an unknown suspect. She said that the delivery company advised that the suspect had a receipt to pick up the merchandise and they had an ID on file but could not give the victim any information.
500 block of Main Street, NE – A convenience store reported a larceny on Feb. 9. The reporting party said some lottery tickets were taken from a counter display by a woman. The reporting party was assisting another customer when this took place.
500 block of Pharr Road, NE – A specialty store reported a larceny on Feb. 8. The business owner said that several weeks ago she noticed two air-conditioning units outside the business were missing. The owner estimated that the units were taken sometime between Jan. 8 and Jan. 20, but was unsure. A portion of the chain link fence bordering the business had been cut.
1900 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A drug store reported a larceny on the morning of Feb. 12. Six male transvestites entered the store, took items and left without paying. The items were valued at $10. The cashier followed them out of the store and confronted the suspects. One the suspects and the cashier had a brief physical confrontation. The suspects fled in a vehicle with tag BVQ-4696. There were no injuries requiring medical treatment.
