The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.
Larceny from Vehicle
100 block of West Wieuca Road, NE – On the evening of Feb. 14, a larceny from an auto in a parking lot/garage at this location was reported. The victim said while his vehicle was at Chastain Park someone used a screwdriver or some type of tool to pry under his driver’s door handle; stolen from the vehicle was a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber pistol, $40, a Rolex watch, and a red Swiss gym bag.
600 block of Lindbergh Drive, NE – On the morning of Feb. 19, a larceny from an auto at a gas station was reported. The victim said that he parked his vehicle and went into the store. When he came out, he noticed his rear passenger’s window had been broken into. His iPod touch, cell phone, money and some clothes were stolen.
900 block of Canterbury Road, NE – Larceny from an auto at an apartment complex was reported during the morning of Feb. 24. The victim’s car was parked. An off-duty officer saw a suspect in the vehicle and tried to talk to him. He ran and attempted to jump a fence. The officer was able to detain him and after an investigation, realized the suspect had been breaking into the vehicle. The suspect gave a false name and was in possession of cocaine. He had removed some tools from the victim’s vehicle.
3500 block of Lenox Road, NE – An auto theft from a parking lot/garage was reported at this location on Feb. 15. The victim said that the valet gave his vehicle to someone else without a claim slip; the valet said a man came outside and said he needed his vehicle and had the supposed owner on the phone, who advised the valet it was ok. The male was last seen driving away on Phipps Boulevard.
3300 block of Lenox Road, NE – On the evening of Feb. 14, an auto theft from a restaurant at this location was reported. The victim had his vehicle valet parked, however he lost his claim ticket. The valet said a male came out with the claim ticket and the valet gave the suspect the keys. According to the valet, moments later the actual owner came outside to claim her vehicle and called 911 upon learning that someone had already claimed it.
Martina Drive/Piedmont Road, NE – On Feb. 19, an auto theft was reported from this location. The victim said she stopped in the road to ask a valet a question and she stepped away from the vehicle. A person jumped into the vehicle and headed east on Martina Drive. The victim said her purse contained her driver’s license, three credit cards and $4,000. Georgia State Patrol later stopped the vehicle and two people were arrested. The $4,000 was not recovered.
1700 block of Warren Court, NW – An auto theft was reported from a residence at this location on Feb. 22. The victim said that his vehicle was stolen, and inside were several police items, including two handguns, a police vest, handcuffs and leg irons, and crime scene tape. APD Homeland Security was notified of this incident.
3500 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny occurred at a discount store at this location on Feb. 18. The suspect entered the place of business and removed a pair of boxers from a rack. The suspect concealed the item under his clothes, and then passed all points of sale without paying. The suspect was also in possession of a stolen vehicle that he had driven to the mall.
First block of Pharr Road, NW – On Feb. 15, a larceny at a restaurant occurred at this location. The victim had her purse in a back office. She went to retrieve a key to lock the front door and noticed her purse missing. She said that an unknown male wearing a NASCAR racing jacket was lingering in front of the store before it opened.
First block of West Paces Ferry Road, NE – A larceny occurred at a specialty store at this location on Feb. 14. The victim said that while she was inside a grocery store she noticed her wallet was missing from her pocketbook. The victim last saw her wallet while she was at another store. The victim said her wallet is heavy and she would have known if someone had taken it from her. Her credit card was used at a nearby gas station and department store.
2400 block of Piedmont Road, NE – On the morning of Feb. 16, a larceny was reported at this location. The victim said he was working at a restaurant at Lindbergh Station when the suspect came into the store and asked him to call a paramedic. While the victim was talking to the paramedic, the suspect reached out and took a $20 bill from a jar on the counter and left the store.
1100 block of Collier Road, NW – A larceny from an apartment complex at this location was reported on Feb. 12. The victim’s apartment flooded and her household items were removed and stored by a disaster recovery company, until the victim’s apartment was fixed. The victim said that when she went to get her items from the storage container, she noticed that her computer desk was missing. The victim said that the disaster recovery company was responsible since they were the only people who had access to her belongings.
1800 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A store reported a larceny from this location on Feb. 19. An officer responded to a theft call of $180,000 from a discount store. Surveillance video showed an unknown male suspect using a key to enter through a side door, and then walk undetected to the customer service area. The suspect then used a master key to enter a safety deposit room and open a safe using a combination. The camera showed the male taking something from the safe.
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from an apartment complex was reported on Feb. 21. The victim said that he was in his apartment with his girlfriend, and he went downstairs to the gym. When he returned, his girlfriend was gone and so was $5,500 worth of items from his apartment. He has known his girlfriend about one year.
3500 block of Peachtree Road, NE – On Feb. 25, a store at this location reported a larceny. The employee said that the suspect walked into the store and took cash from the register and 68 cell phones.
300 block of Pharr Road, NE – On the morning of Feb. 20, a larceny from this location was reported. The victim said that an unknown person took his belongings in the 1800 block of Peachtree Road. The victim said that he was picked up by a female and she offered him a ride home. When they arrived at Pharr Road she let him out to get some beer and she fled. His laptop computer, $500 and sunglasses were in the suspect’s vehicle.
3100 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny was reported at a nightclub on the morning of Feb. 26. The victim said someone stole her purse at the nightclub. The purse contained an iPhone, keys, debit card and $10. A person was apprehended and the victim’s phone was located in the suspect’s left pocket and the keys were found in the front, right pants pocket. They also discovered the debit card wedged between the pants and his wallet. All the property was recovered and released to the victim at the scene.
1400 block of Ellsworth Industrial Blvd, NW – A larceny from a business at this location was reported on Feb. 20. The reporting party works for a company that was moving from one location to another. They hired a moving company. The company locked the door and while they were gone the janitorial company came in. The worker that entered the location said he threw some expensive items in the dumpster. The dumpster was checked before the trash company picked up the trash and the items were not in there.
2400 block of Parkland Drive, NE – On the evening of Feb. 17, a residential burglary occurred at an apartment at this location. An officer received information about four unidentified suspects who were at the complex. A rear bedroom window was open as was the screen on the outside floor. The front door frame was damaged. Officers recovered one Samsung flat screen TV, one Dell laptop, one brown change box, and one Canon digital camera. The suspects were described as males wearing grey hoodies, jeans and skull caps.
1200 block of Defoor Village Court, NW – A commercial burglary was reported at this location on Feb. 14. ADP was met by the maintenance supervisor, who said that when he arrived for work, he discovered that the door to the maintenance building had been damaged, and a motor scooter and a gum ball machine had been taken. The lock on the door appeared to be drilled out in order to gain entry into the building.
1900 block of Brantley Walk Lane, NW – A residential burglary was reported on Feb. 15. The victim said someone had entered the location and cut two copper pipes from the attic and stole a digital thermostat from the upstairs area. There were no signs of forced entry. The residence was empty. It is a foreclosure property.
3400 block of Kingsboro Road, NE – A residential burglary was reported at this location on Feb. 15. The victim said that she left and when she returned home, she noticed her front door damaged and items were taken, including a TV, 32 computers, three game consoles, six game controllers, Wii balance board, 2 iPods, DVD recorder, clock radio, Tumi luggage, keyboard and monitor.
3500 block of Piedmont Road, NE – On Feb. 24, a residential burglary occurred at an apartment complex at this location. The victims left home about 10 a.m. and returned about 5 p.m. There were televisions, laptops, jewelry and luggage stolen. The luggage was used to take the things out of the apartment. Forced entry was made to the front door. There was a small puncture on the front door.
First block of Beck Street, NW – A commercial burglary was reported on Feb. 22 from this location. One of the owners entered the business and knew something was wrong because the alarm did not sound. The alarm is not monitored. A vent in the center of the store was missing. The basement door was kicked in, and after taking inventory there were hair tools, 10 Italian glass necklaces, two sets of Italian glass earrings, hair products, and $30 missing.
1100 block of Huff Road, NW – A residential robbery occurred at this location on Feb. 17. The victim said that the suspect threatened him at gun point to open his front door. The suspect continued to threaten him and took all the money he found in the apartment.
7000 block of Chastain Drive, NE – On Feb. 17, an aggravated assault occurred at an apartment complex at this location. The victim said that she and her husband got into an argument and he struck her in the head with a closed fist. The victim said the suspect then hit her with an object causing a laceration to her hand. The suspect left before police arrived.
Buford Highway@Lenox Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on Feb. 13 at this location. The victim was out with a man’s girlfriend. The man apparently followed them. The victim dropped the female off at her vehicle and then became engaged in a verbal confrontation with her boyfriend. The victim left the scene, but the suspect followed him to a gas station and a witness saw them arguing. When the victim drove off, the suspect followed him and fired at his vehicle. The victim felt the bullets striking his body. He then returned to the gas station and the clerk called a Grady Memorial Hospital ambulance for him.
