Performers at Sandy Springs high schools received 10 nominations for the Shuler Hensley awards, given each year to honor musical theater productions at metro Atlanta high schools.

Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School performers received five nominations. Riverwood International Charter School preformers were nominated for four awards and performers at North Springs Charter High School for one.

Performances in productions at two nearby private schools – The Lovett School and the Atlanta International School – received four nominations apiece.

The 2011 winners will be announced April 26 during a ceremony at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

Forty-one high schools from a dozen counties and 14 school districts were nominated for awards this year. The awards are named for Marietta native Shuler Hensley, a Tony Award-winning Broadway performer.
