Dunwoody officials want residents to leave their cars behind for a day and walk or bike to Dunwoody’s villages.

Stacey Harris, chair of the Dunwoody Sustainability Commission, said the May 21 event aims to be a fun way for families to enjoy the spring weather and support local businesses.

“We picked that way to celebrate summer,” Harris said. “Get out of your car and walk to a village.”

Many businesses in Dunwoody’s villages will offer discounts to people who walk or bike, Harris said.

“I had the idea in January during the snow week when my family finally made it out to Village Burger,” Harris said. “So many people had walked because the weather was so bad. I thought, how cool would it be to have a walk or bike to your village day?”

Bob Dallas of the Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce said the event is a way to support local businesses.

“You can improve the health of the community and businesses at the same time,” Dallas said.
