Break out your Bermuda shorts. Buckhead has a sister community — the island of Bermuda.

On May 26, a delegation from the Buckhead Coalition is scheduled to travel to Bermuda’s capital city of Hamilton to visit with the deputy premier and exchange formal proclamations, according to the coalition.

The group will fly to Bermuda aboard the inaugural flight of AirTran Airways’ daily nonstop service from Atlanta to Hamilton.

Officials from Atlanta and Bermuda hope the sister community relationship will foster economic development in both areas.

“This new travel service is of real economic value to both cities, and we plan to nurture our relationship with this delightful island.  We both are major tourist destinations, and have fine hotels and restaurants, excellent shopping and a common attitude of good will,” said Sam Massell, president of the Buckhead Coalition.
