The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.
2700 block of Peachtree Road, NE – An aggravated assault at a residence at this location was reported on the evening of May 3. The suspect picked up a 3-foot PVC pipe and began swinging it toward the victim and his mother. The suspect left the location before police arrived. The suspect’s mother said he has become aggressive and angry within the last couple of months.
200 block of Hillside Drive, NW – An aggravated assault at a residence at this location was reported on May 7. The suspect walked up to the victim and Tasered his dog. When questioned why he did it, he Tasered the man’s son before leaving.
2400 block of Coronet Way, NW – A case of aggravated assault at a residence was reported at this location on May 21. The victim said he paid the suspect $180 to fix his truck. The truck broke down and the victim asked for his money back. The victim went back for his money and the suspect pointed a gun at him and then walked away.
1700 block of Defoor Place, NW – A case of aggravated assault occurred at a department store at this location and was reported on May 21. An employee at the location said that a woman entered and selected merchandise, then concealed the items in a personal bag. The employee said that when they attempted to detain her for police, she sprayed the employee with Mace. The employee said the subject then fled the location, leaving behind the concealed merchandise.
2200 block of Peachtree Road, NW – A burglary was reported at this location on May 2. APD responded to the location on a theft call. Officers were met by the victim who said that someone used a key to enter his apartment and take some of his medical pills. The victim said that he knows who may have done it, that someone comes into his room about 2 to 3 times a week and take his pills.
300 block of Woodward Way, NW – A commercial burglary was reported at this location on May 4. An employee said that when he reported to work he entered the business and noticed that the alarm was not sounding normal. The employee then walked around the inside of the building and saw that a rack of shirts was missing. The employee also noticed that a door on the south end of the business was unlocked.
3100 block of Lenox Road, NE – A residential burglary was reported at this location on May 13. The reporting person said another agent discovered a unit broken into and several appliances missing, including one Viking refrigerator, one Viking range, one Viking double oven and one Viking microwave.
2300 block of Parkland Drive, NE – A burglary at an apartment complex was reported at this location on May 16. The victim was home during the time of the burglary. The victim said she heard someone at the door and assumed it was her roommate. The victim then discovered that someone was attempting to break in. The victim slammed the door closed before the suspect gained entry and held the door closed. The door frame was split and the strike plates were loose.
700 block of Summit North Drive, NE – A burglary occurred at an apartment complex at this location on May 18. The victim said that when he returned home, he noticed that his front door was unlocked. The victim said the wall in his dining room was busted open from the outside. He said the water heater room was not locked. The hole in the wall, as well as the space the subject entered, was small. A portable DVD player and costume jewelry were missing.
3400 block of Northside Parkway, NW – A commercial burglary was reported at this location on May 19. An APD officer was met by the reporting party who said the outside freezer was broken into over night and $3,100 worth of chicken was stolen.
200 block of Colonial Homes Drive, NW – A commercial burglary was reported at this location on May 20. The reporting person said the Colonial Home Apartment complex’s maintenance shop was secured on May 19, but the following day he noticed the front door frame was damaged and the door was unsecured. He said the following were items missing: one 18 volt, three-piece set containing a saw, drill, and circular saw, a battery charger and two batteries, a blower, a chainsaw, a drill set with drill flash light, a framing gun, and batteries.
2300 block of Parkland Drive, NE – A pedestrian was robbed at this location during the day May 8. The victim said the suspect pointed a gun at him and took his wallet, keys and phone, then got into the victim’s car and drove off.
3400 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A robbery involving pedestrians was reported at a hotel at this location on May 9. The victims said they were standing in front of the hotel waiting for some friends when the suspect got out of a car and told them not to move. The victims dropped their handbags. The suspect picked the bags up and then got back into the car. The victims were not sure if the suspect had any weapons on him.
1700 block of Northside Drive, NW – A robbery at a residence hotel was reported at this location on May 18. The victim said she heard a knock on her door and was unable to see was knocking. As she held open the door, the suspect forced his way in with a silver pistol in his right hand and pinned her against the wall. The suspect commanded the victim to empty her nightstand drawers and demanded money. The suspect then told the victim to take off all her clothing. He took the victim’s cellphone and exited the apartment.
700 block of Bellemeade Avenue, NW – A larceny at a business was reported at this location on May 1. The victim said a friend was over to do some work on the victim’s house. The victim left the suspect in the house alone. When the victim came back in, he noticed his friend had left and money ($10,000) from his safe in his office was missing. The victim’s friend has made excuses, but has not returned to finish the work or answer to the missing money.
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a restaurant at this location was reported on May 2. The victim left her handbag on the side of the bar near the counter while preparing for work. When she returned to the area her handbag was missing. A witness said he saw three men standing in the area around were the victim’s handbag was located. The victim has an application on her phone, “where is my phone” and the phone locater stated the phone was at a MARTA station at Piedmont Rd. and I-85. The phone could not be located or was turned off.
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A theft at a department store was reported on May 2 at this location. An employee was giving away merchandise for free to numerous customers. The total amount of items given away was $2,342.50. The man was arrested and transported to jail.
3100 block of Northside Parkway, NW – A theft from a business occurred and was reported on May 2 at this location. An unknown person damaged five air conditioner units at the property. The reporting person said that it was extremely hot inside the business. She then called an air conditioner service to check the unit. It was confirmed that copper was taken from three of the units and two other units were damaged.
2500 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny while in a vehicle was reported at this location on May 6. The victim had met a man and gave him a ride to a store on Piedmont Road. After the man got out of the victim’s vehicle, the victim noticed $1,080 in cash was missing from her purse. She only knew the male as “Dave.”
3400 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny at a store at this location was reported on the evening of May 8. Video shows the suspect near the jewelry counter, and he places his hand in his pocket and walks away. Later it was discovered three pieces of jewelry were missing from the case. The suspect works at the store.
1800 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from a discount store was reported at this location on May 9. A witness said he saw the suspect on surveillance cameras as she concealed a CD player, a pack of batteries and a magazine in her purse and walked past all points of sale without paying. The suspect was apprehended by Loss Prevention and the items were recovered.
300 block of Woodward Way, NW – A larceny at a golf course was reported at this location on May 14. The victim said his golf clubs had been stolen. He said he had placed his clubs near a garage and walked about two minutes and when he returned to get them they were missing. He said he noticed a man leaving the area in a high rate of speed in a green Mitsubishi Diamante.
2300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store at this location was reported on May 16. The reporting person said that $1,000 in U.S. currency was stolen out of a customer’s bag that was in the store for repair.
3600 block of Habersham Road, NE – A larceny was reported at this location on May 17. The reporting person said to police that someone took a mirror from the hallway. The 6-foot-tall mirror was mounted on the wall in a common area of the building.
2300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny was reported at a grocery store on May 21. A security guard at a grocery store reported that a customer was shoplifting. The customer was inside the bathroom with a bag. He did not want to come out. Finally, the manager came and unlocked the bathroom. The black bag had a bottle of wine inside that the customer did not pay for. The customer did admit to the allegation, was charged with theft by shoplifting, and transported to city jail.
Larceny from Vehicle
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported during the morning of May 2 at this location. The victim said an acquaintance, “Mike,” drove her from the club Encore and valet her vehicle at the listed location around 3 a.m. The victim said she accompanied Mike up to a room and then he left around 3:10 a.m., returning at 3:30 a.m. The victim said she remembered hearing the keys on the safe in the room being punched. The victim said she became suspicious and went down to her vehicle and looked in her purse and discovered $3,000 in cash was missing.
3700 block of Roswell Road, NE – A larceny from an auto in a parking deck was reported on May 2. The suspect(s) broke the rear window on a gray Chevy Yukon and stole a laptop, 14 checkbooks, a computer bag, miscellaneous papers, chargers, an AT&T air card, an Apple iPod, a radar gun, a video camera with two batteries, two stop watches and a pair of sunglasses.
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from an auto at this location as reported on May 13. The victim said she parked her car in a parking lot at 2 p.m. She returned to her car at 4:15 p.m. She then drove home and realized that her Husky 3-drawer tool kit was missing. There was no sign of forced entry. The value of the missing items was approximately $10,000.
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from an auto at a parking garage at this location was reported on May 15. The victim said that last night before going out she was walking from a hotel with her friend who said to her that she should change purses because the other purse is bigger. So the victim went inside the vehicle and placed her purse behind the seat. The next day, the victim noticed that her purse was missing from the vehicle. She said all doors were locked to the vehicle. She also said that the reason she was reporting it now was because she was just waking up from sleeping. She said the only person who had access to the vehicle was her friend.
1400 block of Marietta Boulevard, NW – A larceny from an auto at a business’ parking lot was reported on May 16. The vehicles were parked in a chain in the parking lot One of the vehicles had the passenger side window busted out and all four tires were removed. The vehicle was sitting on concrete blocks. Also the gas tank had been cut open and a plastic bucket left under the tank for the purpose of draining the gas from the tank. A second vehicle had a piece of rubber hose cut off a sprayer that may have been used to siphon the gas. A grill had also been stolen from the rear fenced area in the parking lot.
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – An auto theft was reported from a hotel on May 2. An officer was met by a hotel manager who said that a man presented a claim number to the valet and the vehicle was brought to the suspect. The man used a name of a previous guest at the hotel and the vehicle was released to the suspect. The vehicle was registered to Enterprise Rental Company.
1700 block of Northside Drive, NW – An auto theft from a parking garage was reported on May 3. The victim said he parked his vehicle and upon returning discovered that his vehicle had been stolen, along with $6,000 in the center consol.
2300 block of Piedmont Road, NE – An auto theft occurred and was reported from business at this location on May 6. The victim parked his vehicle in the Pep Boys’ parking lot across the street from the Gold Room. After visiting the Gold Room, the victim returned to where he parked his vehicle to discover it had been stolen. The victim said that he had misplaced his keys while visiting the Gold Room.
2900 block of Piedmont Road, NE – An auto theft from a business at this location occurred and was reported on May 13. The victim said his car was stolen from a carwash. The victim said he dropped off his vehicle at a Land Rover dealership, which sent the car to the carwash to be cleaned. There is videotape of a suspect getting into the car and driving away.
1000 block of Garden View Drive, NE – An auto theft from a parking garage was reported at this location on May 17. The victim said he parked and chained his motorcycle (a red 2007 Yamaha) to a wall at the above location at 2 p.m. Upon returning to get the motorcycle at 12:50 a.m., he discovered that the chain had been cut and his motorcycle was gone.
2200 block of Bolton Road, NW – An auto theft from a church was reported on May 18. The reporting person said that a church van was stolen from the listed location. The white van was parked at the church and has the church’s name on both sides.
