Sandy Sprints firefighters are putting “quick response” or “QR Codes” on their vehicles. The codes, square patterns in black on a white background, are similar to barcodes and can be read by smartphones or dedicated QR readers.

The fire department’s codes will take users to the department’s website, where they can get information and CPR and Community Emergency Response Team classes, fire guidelines and ordinances and where users can sign up for classes.

“We believe in keeping current, not only in the medical and fire suppression fields but also it the technology field,” said Sandy Springs Deputy Fire Chief Dennis Ham.
