Athletes from the Lovett School received “relatively minor” injuries in a bus accident in Florida, the school reported on its website July 23.

The school said the students were on their way to volley ball camp at the University of Florida when the accident occurred outside Lake City, Fla., on I-75.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, quoting a Lovett representative, said 18 students, two coaches and a driver were on the bus at the time of the wreck.

“There were, unfortunately, injuries involving many of the students on the bus, but all the injuries were relatively minor and all of the students are thankfully OK,” the website said. “All of the students who required treatment were transported to area hospitals, and the other students joined them there with Coach Mary Buczek.

“Several of the students rode back from Florida with their parents after being released from the hospital; the rest arrived home very early Saturday morning with their coach on a chartered bus. They were greeted by our headmaster, Billy Peebles, who reports that ‘all passengers were in good shape.’ “
