On the morning of Aug. 10 an Atlanta police officer shot and killed a robbery suspect at a Burger King restaurant in Buckhead.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, at 5:50 a.m. Aug. 10 officers responded to a robbery in progress at the Burger King on 2425 Peachtree Rd. A nearby officer arrived on the scene and found the armed robbery suspect, who police have not identified, still inside.

The police report the suspect turned toward the officer, who then fired at the suspect several times before the alleged robber ran out the back door. The officer went out another door and confronted the suspect in the parking lot. The officer fired his weapon again, fatally wounding the suspect. Police have not identified the officer.

Both the employees of the Burger King and the officer were not injured. Because the restaurant had just opened, no customers were present, police said.

Police said they are working to determine whether the suspect can be linked to any other robberies. The police officer will be placed on routine administrative duty, police said.
