The Pace Knights 2011 football team is looking to build upon the successes of last fall, when the team finished 9-2 and made their first state playoff appearance in only their third year of varsity football.
This year’s team is led by a committed senior class, many of whom have played since football began at Pace during their seventh-grade year.
Senior linemen Bentley Lellyett, Theo Levine, Patrick Corbett and Cal Harris lead a veteran group up front and bring a wealth of game experience to the offense.
Seniors William Smith, Andrew Thurman and Allen Swan will provide big-play capabilities at the wide receiver position, while seniors James Walsh, Robert Jones and Brett Klugman will get the bulk of the carries in the backfield. Senior signal caller Jonathan Webster will get the start behind center, replacing departed record-setter Will Brewster.
Also returning for the Knights is sophomore running back and linebacker Denzel Franklin, who led the team with 900 yards rushing during his freshman campaign.
