Paul Standard, Head Coach

I think we have the opporunity to have a very, very good season. We’ve got several returning starters who are also outstanding leaders. If we can stay healthy, I feel we can have a special year.

Our strength is in our offensive backfield, where we have all four of our backs returning, and at our linebacker position, where we have two linebackers returning. In the secondary, we have one starter returning but three outstanding players. Our possible weakness is our offensive line. We’ve got a lot of new players there.

We have three-year returning starting quarterback, Trey White. He has had an outstanding career for us. Geno Smith is our returning tailback and defensive back. He is a three-year starter and has committed to play at the University of Alabama. Thomas Holloman is a three-year starter at linebacker and is a multi-talented athlete who can play many positions. He’s committed to play at South Carolina. Linebacker/running back Joseph Crochet has gotten several college offers. So has Trey White, the quarterback.

If we do what we’re supposed to do, we can have a special year. How far that goes, I don’t know, but this group has the opportunity to have a special year if they keep doing what they’re doing.
