The Dunwoody Woman’s Club has announced the lineup for their 39th annual Dunwoody Home Tour. The Oct. 5 fundraiser will open up five Dunwoody houses to the public.
Sharon Doyle, a spokeswoman for the club, said this year each house has a unique style. For example, the tour will include a house with a very rustic design, a traditional colonial home and a sleek three-story penthouse.
“We have the widest variety this year we’ve ever had on the tour,” Doyle said. “We’ve been allowed into homes this year that there has been a great deal of curiosity about. Two of the houses on the tour … have just undergone extensive renovations. People have driven by and watched them evolve over two or three years. We’re excited that they’re completed and we’re able to take them through.”
She said there will be someone available in each house on the tour to talk about the décor.
“There will be a hostess in every room with more details about the things in that room, down to minutia such as the paint color on the wall in case people on the tour want to replicate that paint in their own home,” Doyle said. “We have found that’s one of the primary objectives of people who come on our home tour is to get ideas for their own home.”
People can also do a little shopping along the way, Doyle said.
There will be three local merchants participating in the home tour this year.
“They actually set up a mini-shop one of the homes,” Doyle said. “During the course of the home tour, our guests can shop in those little gift and decorator boutiques.”
The Dunwoody Home Tour is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Dunwoody Woman’s Club.
The proceeds of the home tour will be donated to several of the organizations the Woman’s Club supports, including the Stage Door Players, the Dunwoody Nature Center, the Dunwoody Library, and shelters for victims of abuse.
The Dunwoody Home Tour costs $25 in advance and $30 the day of the tour.
Tickets are now on sale at Artichoke Designs, David Long Interiors, Harry Norman Realtors Ashford-Dunwoody office, Southern Comforts Consignments, Consigning Women, Travelfaire of Dunwoody and Josephine’s Antiques and Fine Linens in Alpharetta.
