Less than a year after announcing a program to give Atlanta police officers a financial incentive to move to Buckhead, the agency offering the grants reports it is meeting its goals.

The Buckhead Coalition reports eight officers have taken advantage of the $3,000 grant, which includes $2,000 from the coalition and $1,000 from the Atlanta Police Foundation. The coalition budgeted for 10. The coalition and other community groups believe the presence of officers living within the community will reduce crime.

In a press release, Coalition president Sam Massell said “it’s worth a bonus to make this happen.”
