Located in the church’s lower parking lo, the center is open the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Electronics and latex paint is accepted and recyclables will be added in the coming months.
This is the second recycling center opened by KAB, with the one in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood at the Walden School, 320 Irwin St., already proving to be a success. It’s open the second Saturday of every month with the same hours as Buckhead.
Residents have dropped off nearly 20,000 pounds of electronics at the Fourth Ward location, spurring the need for the second recycling center.
KAB’s Peggy Denby said the decision to open the location in Buckhead is based on surveys taken in recent months, which show that many residents were driving to the Fourth Ward to dispose of their recyclables.
Both centers are open to the public and most items are free to drop off. There is a $10 handling fee per TV (cash only) and fees for latex paint recycling, which vary by can size.
