The Fulton County Board of education recently named Harvey Oaxaca as Lake Forest Elementary School’s new principal.

Oaxaca previously served as assistant principal of Ridgeview Charter School.

He replaces Dara Wilson, who has moved on to work in the school system’s central office.

Oaxaca’s background is teaching English to speakers of other languages (ESOL), and he has led professional development courses in the subject for teachers in Fulton County Schools.

He holds an educational leadership certification from the University of Georgia and a master of arts in Applied Linguistics and Teaching English as a Second Language from Georgia State University.

Oaxaca attended McMurry University in Texas, where he earned dual bachelor’s degrees in music and in elementary education, Fulton County Schools reports.
