Sandy Springs police are investigating an early-morning Aug. 24 accident on Ga. 400 that killed a young woman and injured another driver.

Police say 22-year old Carlyn Emily Royball of Alpharetta, Ga., was driving north on Ga. 400 southbound lanes at 3:30 a.m. when she struck another vehicle around Roberts Drive. The accident caused both cars to overturn, according to police. The accident injured another person, but no other details are available.

Capt. Steve Rose said officers do not know where Royball entered  Ga. 400. He said officers will investigate whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

“That will be investigated but we don’t know at this point,” Rose said. “Toxicology and other test results will take a couple of weeks.”
