The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area will waive entrance fees Saturday, Sept. 29, to celebrate National Public Lands Day.

Some 397 national parks across the county are waiving entrance fees Sept. 29 to showcase public lands.

As part of the celebration, the Chattahoochee recreation area, a string of parks along the river, is hosting a free “Field Day on the Chattahoochee” that will offer family events such as free fly-fishing instruction and activities led by park rangers.

The field day activities will be held at the area’s Paces Mill unit, 3444 Cobb Parkway SE.

“The purpose of National Public Lands Day is to promote awareness of the land we all share …,” said recreation area Superintendent Patty Wissinger. “We’re encouraging people from all over the Atlanta metropolitan area to enjoy their national parks.”

To register for the recreation area’s field day, call 678-538-1200.
