Dunwoody City Manager Warren Hutmacher recently spoke to the city council about creating a seasonal concert series for the city of Dunwoody.

He suggested the city provide tables and facilities, but hand off the organization of the events to a third party community group. Hutmacher said the Dunwoody Homeowners Association and the Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce have expressed interest in the concert series, which could begin in 2013.

City council members embraced the idea, which has been done successfully by neighboring Sandy Springs for several years.

“In Sandy Springs, they do a great job over there. People have a great time and it doesn’t cost the city much money.” said Councilman Doug Thompson.

Councilman Denis Shortal said the concerts would be a nice offering for residents.

“I just think it would be a hell of a community spirit item,” Shortal said. “I think it really would add a punch to our city.”
