Harriett Mills

A memorial to Harriett Mills, a long-time board member with the Sandy Springs Council of Neighborhoods and the Watershed Alliance of Sandy Springs, is to be dedicated at the John Ripley Forbes Big Trees Forest Preserve this weekend, the alliance announced.

“Through her years of dedicated leadership on the boards of [the two organizations], she exhibited a consistent interest in protecting the Sandy Springs neighborhoods, our watersheds and our tree-rich environment,” the alliance said on its website and in its announcement of the memorial.

A Carolina Silverbell tree and a memorial bench will be dedicated to Mills’ memory on Sunday, Oct. 28, in a ceremony starting at 2 p.m., the announcement said.

The dedication will be held at the Big Trees Forest, 7645 Roswell Road. The public is invited.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the memorial may send donations to: Harriet Mills Memorial, 425 Stone Mill Trail NE, Sandy Springs, Ga., 30328.
